Stevenage have completed the signing of Dean Wells from Braintree Town for a £25,000 fee.
The experienced defender, who has made over 100 appearances for the Conference Premier side since 2011, had an outstanding season with Braintree and Boro had to fight hard against other local League Two clubs for his signature.
The 29-year old started his career at Brentford before moving into non league and joins Boro on a one year contract, with an option for a further year.
Chairman Phil Wallace told us, "Dean is starting his Football League career late in life, but he continually impressed our Head of Recruitment and Graham Westley during last season and he has the enthusiasm, desire and determination to win that we seek in our players. He wants his chance. Graham led the cause to secure Dean and made it possible by his refusal to let the deal fall through, so he deserves great credit for that."
