GW TO REFEREE FUNDRAISING EVENT

20 March 2014

Manager to attend and referee special 50th episode of unofficial podcast for charity

Stevenage manager Graham Westley is showing his support for Boro fans taking part in a charity cycle ride by attending a special fundraising event at the club tomorrow night (Friday 21st March).

A team of cyclists from Stevenage FC will riding from Leyton Orient to Ajax of Amsterdam in June to help raise both funds and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK. The team behind the popular unofficial A Load of Old Toffee podcast is hosting a very special live recording (renamed A Love Of Our Football for one night only), in front of a live audience, with Graham refereeing proceedings.

It will be the 50th episode of the popular podcast, hosted by Steve Watkins, who is also taking part in the bike ride. He said, “The Stevenage fans have been brilliant in getting behind the podcast, and after raising over £4,000 last year, we decided to concentrate on helping to raise funds for this very important cause, currently the biggest ‘man-killer’ in the UK”.

The event, along the lines of the TV quiz show ‘8 out of 10 cats’, will be held at the club’s Broadhall Suite on Friday 21st March, starting at 7.30pm, with tickets priced at £5 each. ALL proceeds go straight to Prostate Cancer UK.

If you fancy a fun evening, whilst helping to raise funds for charity, email sjwatkins@live.co.uk or call 07988 689671 for ticket details.
