LOAN WATCH: GOOD WEEKEND FOR BORO YOUNGSTERS

10 November 2014

It was a good weekend for a number of Stevenage's youngsters out on loan with goals, assists, a man of the match award and progression into the FA Cup second round draw between them.

Jo N’Guessan’s Aldershot Town made it into tonight’s FA Cup second round draw after an excellent 2-2 draw at Portsmouth. The young winger was an unused sub as the Shots came from a goal down to take a 2-1 lead, only for Danny Hollands to equalise with a late header.

In Vanarama Conference South, Ryan Johnson’s Boreham Wood came from behind to beat Connor Calcutt’s Wealdstone 2-1 at Meadow Park. Connor was denied twice in the early stages before combining with Matt Ball to set up Jonathan Wright for the opener on 12 minutes. In an eventful game he was again denied at point blank range by James Russell and put a diving header just wide before late goals from Lee Angol and Sam Cox won the game for Wood. Johnson was an unused sub for the hosts.

Rohdell Gordon played the full 90 as Chelmsford picked up a point with a 1-1 home draw against Hayes & Yeading. The youngster missed a couple of chances but still impressed enough to pick up the man of the match award for the Clarets.

Without a game this weekend Farnborough played a friendly against Dulwich Hamlet and won 2-1 courtesy of two goals from Fejiri Okenabirhie.

Finally George Allen’s Bishop’s Stortford were also without a game this weekend due to cup fixtures elsewhere. Their next match is at home to Eastbourne Borough next weekend.
