LOAN WATCH: GORDON'S CHELMSFORD BEAT LEAGUE LEADERS

2 November 2014

Five of Boro’s six loanees were in action yesterday with Rohdell Gordon the only one to register a win.

Rohdell played the full 90 as Chelmsford ended a six match unbeaten run for Vanarama Conference South league leaders Basingstoke Town with a 2-1 away win. Jason Williams put the Clarets ahead in the first half only for Lloyd Macklin to equalise five minutes later. Rohdell thought he’d set up Michael Cheek for a second at the start of the second half only for the referee to call play back. Lee Sawyer scored the eventual winner from the penalty spot.

George Allen was absent from Bishop Stortford’s squad as they let a first half lead slip and went down 3-1 at home to Hemel Hempstead Town. Meanwhile Fejiri Okenabirhie was a 70th minute sub for 18th placed Farnborough, who fell to a 4-1 home defeat to Gosport Borough.

Ryan Johnson’s Boreham Wood did not have a game this weekend, allowing them additional time to prepare for the visit of Connor Calcutt’s Wealdstone next Saturday.

The Stones did have a fixture yesterday, picking up a point with a 1-1 home draw against Maidenhead United. Connor provided a first half cross which saw ‘keeper Britt save well from Luke O’Nien’s volley, whilst in the second half the ‘keeper again thwarted the Boro striker with a point-blank save. Shaun Lucien opened the scoring for Wealdstone on 71 minutes but winger Dave Tarpey swept home an 87th minute equaliser to deny them all three points.

Finally in the Vanarama Conference Premier, Jo N’Guessan came on at half-time as Aldershot fell to a 2-1 home defeat against Gateshead. All the goals came in the second half with Rob Ramshaw scoring twice for the Heed either side of a Dan Holman equaliser.
