Boro youngsters team up with local students at Stevenage Golf and Conference Centre

The Stevenage Under-18s took a break from training to help open the new Footgolf course at Stevenage Golf and Conference Centre this morning.

With the first team preparing for tomorrow night’s game at Portsmouth, the Boro scholars partnered up with Year 9 PE students from The Barclay School to play the first ever rounds of FootGolf on the course.

Split into groups of four or five the youngsters made their way around the 9 hole course with mixed results, with some scholars proving better than others when it came to ‘putting’ into the new football-sized holes and the Year 9s providing excellent competition.

Ross Millard completed the course in 33, two under-par, making him the most successful scholar on the day.

Head over to the Stevenage FC Facebook page now for a selection of photos from the morning, including the one below of scholars Ed Jackson and Ben Kennedy with their Year 9 pupils.

The FootGolf course opens this Saturday 25th October at Stevenage Golf and Conference Centre on Aston Lane. Size 5 footballs are provided or you can bring your own. No football boots or jeans are permitted on the course. For more information call 01438 880424, visit the Stevenage Leisure website or alternatively log-on to
