WESTLEY ON SHREWSBURY GAME: "GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO BUILD ON SECOND HALF FROM YORK"

11 September 2014

Speaking at his weekly press conference at Bragbury End, manager Graham Westley said his side were looking forward to the Shrewsbury game at the weekend.

He told us, "It’s a great opportunity to build on what we did second half last week. I know the lads enjoyed that second half and I think they learnt a lot in terms of how to play the Stevenage way, how to play at Stevenage. It is an unusual pitch, it takes a bit of time to learn as a home ground. We’ve been very good in the past, I think we went two or three years barely losing a game there and winning quite a lot. I’m sure we’ll get better."

"We saw it last week, some terrific football from 10 very valiant men. They really took the game to an opposition that was a playoff side last year and ten of them tore 11 of them to pieces for long, long spells. I thought they were very unfortunate to have the penalty given against them and very unfortunate to come away with nothing, despite everything.

"When you’re watching that from your lads you know you’re not wrong about them. There are some very good players in there, some very good athletes, and when they come together, when they get their ambitions sorted out and when they get on the same page and understand the game I want them to play, they’re going to be playing some really good stuff."
