SCHUMACHER: WE WANT TO GET ON THE FRONT-FOOT AND BE POSITIVE

21 August 2015

Steven Schumacher says he and his teammates have remained positive despite the disappointing start to the season.

Stevenage face Hartlepool at the Lamex tomorrow afternoon and Schumacher knows that results will soon come.

“It has been disappointing results-wise but there has been some good signs performance-wise.

“We have played well in patches in every game we have played; we just have to turn those good spells and patches into longer periods and try to pick up some points.

“We are getting punished for mistakes and switching off at times. The results haven’t gone for us but we are not getting downbeat about it. We understand that if we keep playing well, doing the right things then the points will eventually come.”

After getting off to a bad start at home against Notts County two weeks ago, Schumacher says the team need to make sure the Lamex is a fortress this season.

“Any team that does well in the division needs to have a good home record, that speaks for itself.

“We want to try and get on the front-foot and be positive. I know Hartlepool have had a good start, they have won four in a row so it is going to be a tough game but I don’t think there will be any easy games in this division this year.”
