Speaking ahead of Saturday’s trip to Dagenham & Redbridge, Teddy Sheringham says that after securing the loan signing of Jesse Joronen he is pleased with his squad as it stands but is still looking to add quality.

“I have got quite a big squad now which I am quite happy with; in fact I am very happy with. It wouldn’t be the end of the world if no one else came in, we can still get loans after that time (the transfer deadline).

“Like I said about the goalkeeper, I am still looking to improve the squad and if I can do that I will be delighted.

“If it stays the same I will be delighted as well because I have been very impressed with the players I have got here.

“Very impressed with the way they are trying to take on board my new ideas I have brought in this year and hopefully things can get better out on the football pitch.”

Boro will be buoyant going into the weekend’s game after getting the first win of the season last Saturday. Teddy says that it didn’t matter how the three points were earned.

“It was fantastic to get that first win. As one of the lads in the dressing room said, it was probably the worst we have played.

“We ground out the result, it wasn’t pretty at times and I said that after the game but we ground out our first result and sometimes you have to do that as footballers so I was very pleased that we could do that last Saturday.”

It has been a difficult start to the season for Dagenham but the gaffer says his players will have to be ready to roll their sleeves up.

“A team that has only got one point is going to be fighting for their lives so we have got to be ready for that.

“We have only got four points so we are going to be fighting for our lives as well. It is going to a good fight!”
