Stevenage summer signing, Brett Williams says he can’t wait to get out onto the pitch on Saturday for the first game of the 2015/2016 season.

Since joining from Aldershot the striker has settled into the side well and despite a mixed pre-season, he is eager for the team to get off to a good start.

“Very excited, I am glad pre-season is over and now myself and the rest of the lads are looking forward to the start of the season.

“It was a mixed pre-season. If you look at the results it wasn’t great but what we got from it fitness-wise, getting to know everyone and understanding how the manager wants us to play there were a lot of positives from it.

“The main thing is fitness, getting up to match shape and now everyone is raring to go for Saturday and to get off to a good start.”

Now the fitness work is out of the way, it is all about getting the game plan ready for Saturday’s opponents.

“We will have a meeting today, go through a few things and make sure we are all prepped up for Notts County. We’ll be prepared.”

Williams is likely to start upfront on Saturday and he says it would be a dream to get off to a goalscoring start.

“As a striker you always want to get a goal on your debut and that is what I am looking to do. The main thing though is getting the three points but a goal would certainly be nice.”
