KIDS TAKEOVER A GREAT SUCCESS

23 February 2015

Saturday's 4-2 victory over Southend sent the Stevenage fans home happy and marked a successful end to the second part of our Kids Takeover.

After three budding young journalists visited the Bragbury End training ground on Thursday to ask manager Graham Westley and the players some challenging questions, Saturday saw the turn of three more youngsters to enjoy the Southend game in different surroundings to usual.

Jack Potter (8) enjoyed his reign as Chairman for the Day and cheered Boro on from Phil Wallace's seat up in the Director's Box with his family. He took time out from his half-time hospitality to be interviewed on the stadium PA and reiterated his desire to sign some of the world's best players for the club! You can also read his special match programme notes below.

Ollie Ford (12) joined the Stevenage media team for the day and enjoyed a look at what goes on behind-the-scenes on match days. After collecting his "access all areas" press pass, he assisted press officer Mark and club secretary Chris in collecting and typing up the official team sheets before showing some visiting media to their seats. He also enjoyed watching the game from the press box and watched the post-match interviews.

Finally anyone at the game would have heard 11-year old Harvey Granger enjoying himself on the PA system as our match day PA assistant. His role included interviewing our five match day mascots, reading the teams out in extremely confident fashion and even scoring past the Nando's chicken mascot at half-time, which had joined us for the day to help promote our partnership with Nando's!

As part of the Kids Takeover the club teamed up with Nando's branch at Stevenage Leisure Park to offer free Nandino's meals for all under-10s. Fans who took a voucher on Saturday are reminded that these are valid from today (23rd February) to Thursday 5th March only at the Stevenage Leisure Park branch of Nando's. Each adult who orders a meal will receive one free kid's meal on production of that voucher.

Dave Toyn, Marketing & Communications Manager, said, "Our first ever Kids Takeover proved a resounding success with Jack, Ollie, Harvey, Stephen, Owen and Katie all enjoying a great time with us and I'd like to thank them for their excellent help. Each came fully prepared for their respective role, each performed superbly on the day and all are a real credit to their families and to our youngest supporters.

"The takeover is certainly something we will look to repeat and build on in future seasons as we continue our efforts to attract and reward the next generation of Stevenage fans in our quest to fill The Lamex Stadium."

Below you can find photos of Jack, Ollie and Harvey from Saturday's Kids Takeover event and all three feature in our "Behind the Scenes" video from the game.
