YOUNGSTERS ENJOY MEMORABLE AFTERNOON AT BRAGBURY END

19 February 2015

Young Boro fans enjoy visit to training ground as part of our Kids Takeover

Graham Westley and his Stevenage players faced some of the toughest questions of their careers this afternoon as three young Stevenage fans interviewed them at Bragbury End as part of our Kids Takeover.

Stephen (9), Owen (8) and Katie (11) were selected from a large number of entries from our youngest fans to enjoy a memorable afternoon out at the 40-acre training facility.

After a tour around the training building the trio of budding journalists – all prepared with notepads full of questions – interviewed Graham Westley during his weekly press conference, with the gaffer even left uncharacteristically speechless for a moment as he considered how to answer one cheeky question.

The youngsters then turned their attention to their favourite players, leaving no stone unturned in their questioning. Much to his amusement (Brentford fan) Dean Wells was asked if he would ever sign for arch-rivals Fulham, Ronnie Henry was asked who he loved more out of Stevenage and Luton (of course he said Stevenage) and Chris Day was left cowering in the corner at the start of his interview! Coverage of the best questions will be available on our YouTube page in due course.

Satisfied with their journalistic work the happy trio then enjoyed some lunch and met the players – Tom Pett battled hard but couldn’t keep up with the table tennis skills of Stephen or Owen while Katie showed Jason Goodliffe how to hit the target on the dartboard.

Dean Parrett kindly gave the boys a pair of his boots each, Chris Day donated a signed pair of gloves to Katie and all three went away with signed footballs, autographs, photos and some great memories.

Our Kids Takeover continues this Saturday when three more youngsters will be experiencing life behind-the-scenes at The Lamex Stadium in some very special roles. Eight-year old Jack will be Chairman for the Day and will watch the game from the best seats in the house with his family. You can also read his column in the programme and hear about his plans for the new North Stand! Elsewhere in the ground we will have Ollie (12) helping out the media team for the afternoon and joining our regular PA team will be Harvey (11) on the microphone.

The fun doesn’t stop there for our younger fans who can claim a free kids meal at Nando’s in Stevenage by picking up a voucher which will be available on the turnstiles and around the ground. Full details and terms and conditions can be found here.

Tickets for Saturday’s game against Southend can be purchased at ‘in advance’ prices until midday on Friday 20th February. Click here to buy tickets online.
