Stevenage manager Graham Westley has been nominated for the Sky Bet League 2 Manager of the Month Award for December.
Graham is nominated along with Micky Adams (Tranmere), Neil Ardley (AFC Wimbledon) and Justin Edinburgh (Newport County) after Boro won three consecutive games over the Christmas period, lifting us into the top 10.
The judging panel comprises former Ipswich Town manager George Burley, Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Chief Operating Officer Andy Williamson; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery. They have selected those four nominations based on the following:
Micky Adams (Tranmere Rovers)
Has instilled a calm belief at Prenton Park that has won over players, supporters and directors alike. Rovers are now harder to beat, while higher up the pitch they have adopted Adams’ passing style in gaining seven points from 12.
Neal Ardley (AFC Wimbledon)
His team enjoyed a festive December with three wins from four games, scoring a division-leading nine goals and adopting the free-flowing approach Ardley favours. The highlight was a 4-1 win over promotion hopefuls Exeter City.
Justin Edinburgh (Newport County)
With the Rodney Parade pitch holding up, his side are passing the ball around freely and continued their steady climb into the Play-Off positions with three more wins, including an impressive 2-0 victory over in-form Plymouth Argyle.
Graham Westley (Stevenage)
His reward for keeping patience and faith in his beliefs in spite of a slow start to the season was three successive wins over Christmas, which lifted Stevenage into the top 10 and left them primed to make a promotion push.
