WE HELP FOREST MASCOT CHARLIE WIN A BET IN STYLE!

20 July 2015

Here at the League 2 Family Club of the Year we don't just limit our magic moments and friendliness to home fans, as young Nottingham Forest mascot Charlie Parks found out on Friday when we helped him win a £10 bet!

The eight-year old enjoyed his time as our away mascot but his evening was complete when he was allowed to run and slide on his knees in front of the Forest fans and kiss his badge, making him an overnight star among Reds fans and pocketing himself some money from his uncle.

Our match day PA announcer, Jamie Drackford takes up the story...

"We had just finished the half-time keepy-uppy competition when I heard about this bet. Charlie had been told that if he ran over to the Nottingham Forest fans and kissed the badge he would win £10 from his uncle, who was unable to attend the game. Of course, this had to happen and we made sure Charlie's dad was recording it for proof."

Once Jamie has told the whole stadium what was about to happen, Charlie then ran from the halfway line into the box and slid on his knees in front of the hundreds of Forest fans before kissing his badge. He received great applause from Forest and Stevenage fans and has since been featured in the Nottingham Post for his efforts!

Jamie added, "Charlie was a cracking lad, it was great to help him accomplish his feat and I think we helped make his day. The away supporters were awesome on the day too. I did ask for a fiver from him, but I haven't heard from him since!"

Dave Toyn, Marketing, Media & Communications Manager, commented, "Here at Stevenage FC we're always working on ways to further improve the match day experience and identifying opportunities to make someone's day here at the club and this extends to away fans too. Having already read the Nottingham Forest team out on the microphone and taken part in our half-time competition, Charlie then enjoyed his big moment in front of the Forest fans after telling us about this bet.

"Jamie is so enthusiastic on the PA and is great at spotting opportunities to make the day extra special for fans, so we commend him for his work on Friday night which has left Charlie with a lasting memory of his big day and a £10 prize. We know Charlie thoroughly enjoyed his mascot experience and we hope he enjoys spending his winnings."
