The Stevenage striker speaks about starting his pre-season early and playing under Teddy...
Adam Marriott is already back at work as he looks to get back up to full fitness in time for pre-season after a difficult first year that saw him miss large chunks due to injury.
In the games he did play during 14/15, Marriott impressed as his movement, finishing and link-up play with other attacking players saw him become a valuable first team player when available.
Speaking at Bragbury End, Marriott explains why he is back in so early.
“Just to get back into the swing of things really, the boys aren’t back for another month or so but I have missed the last few months so it is just getting a head start on them really and hopefully I will be ready to go when they get back.
“I am feeling positive about it, (the injury) is something that has happened now and I have to get on with it. I am really looking forward to the start of the season."
Despite the injury issues last season, Marriott thinks that he showed plenty of positive signs and that he can push on now.
“I gave my all in every game, it was quite a bit step up to be fair and I was just adjusting to that but now I feel fine, raring to go and hopefully next season will be my season.”
With the arrival of Teddy Sheringham as the clubs new manager, the strikers in the team are particularly excited about working with the former England man and Marriott is no different.
“I am buzzing to be fair, I met him for the first time today and he seems a good guy. Hopefully he will be able to pass on some of his knowledge to me and we can work well together.
“His pedigree is right up there, he has done it all at the top and if I can learn a bit from him and put it into my game, the only way is up.”
