JAMILLE MATT: IT WAS AN OPPORTUNITY I JUMPED AT

19 November 2015

New loan signing, Jamille is looking forward to helping Boro make their way up the table after joining the club on a two month loan from Fleetwood.

After opportunities at his parent club began to slow down in recent weeks, Matt says that once he heard of Stevenage’s interest, he jumped at the chance.

“I got a phone call saying that Stevenage were interested in bringing me in on loan and I hadn’t played the last few games so it was an opportunity I jumped at really. I have been eager to come down and see the place and I’ve been very impressed.

“I have only been down here a day or so, so I am just getting to know the lads and everything but it is going well and I am looking forward to getting started and hopefully help the team get some more wins.”

“I know Schuey well; he is a great player and keeps teams ticking over so it will be good to play with him again. Obviously I know Robbo who is a legend here – I can’t escape pictures of him in and around the stadium!”

After missing the whole of 2014/2015 with a leg injury, Matt has responded well to the set-back and says that is all behind him now as he looks to the future.

“I have been available for every game this season so I am in good shape, I may be missing a bit of match sharpness but I am feeling good physically and that will come with minutes I am sure.

“It was a tough time, being out for the whole season. I like to think that is all past me now as I have responded well this season and stayed fit all year.

“I have played 17 games this season so it is not like I haven’t played at all but I need to be playing games regularly and since the new manager has come in I haven’t played as much as I would like. Hopefully this is a chance for me to play and in my preferred position.

“I need to look to the future and step it up another level now so hopefully I can do that and help Stevenage.”

When asked what the Boro fans can expect of him, Matt says that that he believes his hard work will be a major asset.

“I like to think I am quite strong, can get in-behind but I am a hard worker and will always give 100%. I like to bring others into play and obviously I want to score goals myself but I think my all round game is more to bring people into play, get onto the end of things and try and get in-behind and cause defenders problems, not giving them a minutes rest.”
