LADIES USE PEDAL POWER TO RAISE £5K FOR GROUND IMPROVEMENTS

30 September 2015

Last weekend Stevenage Ladies FC, supported by Barclays Bank, took on the challenge of cycling from The Lamex Stadium to The R Costings Abbey Stadium in Cambridge, ahead of the first teams match against Cambridge United.

Departing at 8am the 33 riders, which included former Boro player Neil Trebble and 25 of the ladies players, set off through the rural villages of Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire in a bid to raise £5,000 to help fund ground improvements at their home in Codicote.

By 11.30am the first set of riders had reached the The Abbey and they were closely followed by the remaining riders during the next hour.

Covering 35 miles the Ladies team comfortably met the £5,000 target which will now allow them, in conjunction with Codicote FC, to install new floodlights, a 100 seater stand and a new pitch, allowing them to progress up the female football pyramid.
