TEDDY: WE PLAYED SOME REAL GOOD STUFF

5 September 2015

Manager, Teddy Sheringham praised his players after the 2-1 win against Plymouth, saying it was the best performance of the season so far.

The gaffer made a number of changes to the starting XI and he says that everyone has to be ready to play their part.

“With the players than you have missing, you juggle things around and other people come in and get their chance.

“I am sure there will be times when I really have a go about missing out on players but I have got a decent sized squad now.

"I am pleased with what I have got, what I can juggle around and I am glad for the lads that came in and did a job today.”

Boro went into the break 2-0 up after a superb half of football from the home team and Teddy says the early goal was key.

“It helps when you score an early goal, it gives you a little lift and everyone calms down a little bit.

“We played some real good stuff which I was pleased with. It is coming together, we still have a long way to go but there was improvement today so as manager I am pleased with that.”

Plymouth came back at us in the second half and made it 2-1 with over half an hour to go. Boro fought hard to hold on though and Teddy says that a Plymouth revival was always on the cards.

“I said at half-time, this was a decent outfit and they would come at us from all angles – and they did. I have got every respect for Plymouth and the way they went about trying to get back into the game and kept coming at us until the last minute.

“I really enjoyed it, it was a great game out there and it is even better when you come out with three points.”
