MITCHELL COLE MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT NEXT MONTH

26 April 2016

The Stevenage Supporters Association FC have announced a date for the fourth annual Mitchell Cole Memorial Tournament in aid of raising money for Cardiomyopathy UK.

The six team tournament is taking place on Saturday 14th May at Arlesey Town’s Armadillo Stadium and will feature supporter teams from Stevenage, AFC Wimbledon, London Carlisle, Barnet, Cambridge and a Cole XI managed by Mitchell’s brother, Ben.

Entry for the day is free but donations will be welcome. There will also be a raffle with plenty of football-related and non-football related prizes on offer, including a match-worn Luke Freeman shirt, a match-worn Charlie Griffin shirt, Mark Beard's 2007 Wembley jacket, Dean Wells signed away shirt and much more. Raffle tickets are just £1.

Tournament organiser Keith Bell told us, "From a personal view its been a fantastic privilege and honour to do something in memory of Mitchell, who gave us plenty of fantastic memories in a Stevenage shirt and in football overall. I will never forget Wembley in 2007 when his goal sparked the comeback and his eight minute hat-trick away at Eastbourne, to name a couple of memories. I hope you are all able to come along and support a fantastic day in memory of a fantastic player."

All money raised on the day goes to Cardiomyopathy UK. Last year's event raised £1,660 and the tournaments overall have raised just over £4,000.
