PARRETT: A GREAT PERFORMANCE

23 April 2016

Two goal hero, Dean Parrett hailed the performance he and his team mates put in at Morecambe as Stevenage returned home with a 4-1 win.

After going into the break 2-1 up, Parrett says they stepped it up in the second half.

“A great performance. First half obviously we went 1-0 down and did well to claw it back. It was a little slice of luck with the first goal but was a good bit of play by Greg for the second goal.

“We weren’t on it as much first half but we came out second half and I thought we were really on it . We moved for each other, passed for each other and got the two extra goals.

“We had a lot of pace going forward today. Kenners came in and did brilliant, Tom came on and did brilliant and we were good on the counter.”

Injuries have meant that Parrett has had a frustrating year up to this point and he admits that right now he is playing the best football of his season.

“I am really enjoying it at the moment, I feel as fit as I have this season. I have had a few little knocks which has slowed me down a little bit but the gaffer has given me freedom to go and play.

“He just says, ‘whenever we haven’t got the ball make sure you get yourself back in’ but I have got the license to go forward now and got myself a couple of goals.

“The gaffer has got us all pulling in the same direction. We have got a great team spirit at the moment; everyone is working for each other.

“We have got a solid base at the back now and it allows us to go play in front and now we are starting to score some goals. It has been a few here and there for the last month or so but I am glad we have got four today.”
