SARLL ON STOKE CITY DRAW & SELECTION HEADACHE FOR THE WEEKEND

11 August 2016

Darren Sarll says the EFL Cup draw at home to Stoke City is an “exciting proposition” as we look forward to welcoming the Premier League side to the Lamex in a couple of weeks’ time.

Before that there is plenty league action to concentrate on and after Tuesday night’s win at Ipswich, Darren Sarll says the performances of a number of players has given him a selection headache going into Saturday's game at Notts County.

“I am very comfortable with the players we have here and the players that are at the moment on the outside of the eleven.

“I am looking forward to them posing me problems, you could see the other night a few problems have now been posed to me in terms of selection for Saturday. So, I am more than happy to rotate and I am more than happy to entrust all our players with the responsibility of wearing a Stevenage shirt.

“It was certainly nice to see Dale, Ben and Rowan perform the way they did and it obviously gives us a little bit of a choice for how we go Saturday.

“But Saturday is all about Notts County. It is not about Ipswich, not about Stoke, it is not about anything else. It is about the right eleven playing Notts County.”

Eager to get our first league points on the board, Sarll says that the team will travel to Meadow Lane full of confidence.

“I am looking forward to the game and it is always a good place to go because it is such a good stadium and the crowd are always quite tenacious in their support, so I think it is a good test for us.

“On the back of Tuesday night I think we could be facing anyone on Saturday and we would be going into it in a real high level of belief and confidence in what we are and what we do.

“Last year it was one of my most disappointing away days so it would be nice to lay that ghost to rest in that sense as well.”
