Last Season

A drab season for the Shrimpers was marred by four and five goal defeats - and even a seven goal defeat to Cambridge United. However, Morecambe managed to survive relatively comfortably by 12 points. Things should have been a lot more comfortable with the Lancashire side ranked 7th for goals scored- Shaun Miller and Jamie Devitt playing a huge role in a formidable attack. Defensively, however, Morecambe leaked a staggering 91 goals- the worst in League Two.

Key Players

The loss of Devitt and Miller will undoubtedly hit the Shrimpers hard. However, Kevin Ellison and Paul Mullin are two experienced heads at this level. Lee Molyneux and young captain Peter Murphy will look to keep things ticking over in midfield. Defensively is where things will matter considerably after last season, and the additions of Dean Winnard and Liam Wakefield from Lancashire rivals Accrington could plug the porous holes in Morecambe’s back line.
