JOHNSON SCORES IN ST ALBANS CITY WIN

12 December 2016

Our latest loan watch round-up....

Ryan Johnson helped high-flying St Albans City to a 2-0 win at Margate on Saturday.

After a goalless first half, the defender flicked home a long throw in the 55th minute to give Ian Allinson’s men the lead. Junior Morias scored a late second to give City all three points and keep them second in the Vanarama National League South table. Ryan played 55 minutes as he continued his recent return from a knee injury sustained whilst on international duty with Northern Ireland U21s.

Meanwhile Dipo Akinyemi made his debut for Billericay Town on Saturday, playing 80 minutes as they lost 2-1 at Burgess Hill Town. Trailing 2-0, Dipo won the 56th minute penalty from which Billy Bicknell halved the deficit. Crawley winger Dean Cox was playing his final game on a short-term spell for Burgess Hill, having scored four times and provided nine assists in 10 games. Billericay are now 13th in the Ryman Premier league table.

Second year scholar Zak Guerfi has joined Bedford Town on work experience. The youngster played the full 90 minutes in Bedford's 3-2 defeat at Hanwell Town in the Evo-Stik South League Division 1 Central.

Next weekend sees St Albans travel to fellow promotion hopefuls Hampton & Richmond; Billericay are at home to Kingstonian and Bedford Town host AFC Dunstable tomorrow.
