THE JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW SO FAR AT STEVENAGE FC

1 February 2016

14 deals confirmed and a further four loans expire to-date in a busy transfer window for Boro...

It’s been a busy January transfer window at The Lamex Stadium with various players moving in and out of the club.

Today on Transfer Deadline Day we thought we’d remind you of what’s happened so far...


Sunday 10th - Four loans expire
The January movements began with the loan spells of four players expiring. Jesse Joronen (Fulham), Jamille Matt (Fleetwood), Callum McFadzean (Sheffield Utd) and Armand Gnanduillet (Chesterfield) all return to their parent clubs. Gnanduillet (pictured above) would later join Leyton Orient permanently, just weeks after scoring twice against the O's for Boro.


Tuesday 12th – Ogilvie loan extended
Left-back Connor Ogilvie's loan spell was extended by a further month. The youngster made 15 appearances for Boro signing on loan in August and tells us he was keen to stay at Boro


Thursday 14th – Keane returns on loan
Experienced midfielder Keith Keane signed on a month’s loan from Cambridge United. It’s the former Luton Town man’s second loan spell at Boro having made seven appearances last season whilst at Preston North End.


Friday 15th – One striker in, one striker out
Forest Green Rovers top scorer Aaron O’Connor signed on an initial month’s loan. He scored 9 goals in 21 games earlier this season and was previously top scorer in two of his three seasons at Newport County. Forest Green fans express their disappointment at Aaron's departure.


Meanwhile heading in the opposite direction was striker Brett Williams who left The Lamex Stadium by mutual consent after making 17 appearances for Stevenage.

Monday 18th – Cox returns on loan
Plymouth midfielder Lee Cox returned to Stevenage on loan until the end of the season. The 25-year old, who previously won promotions with both Inverness and Swindon, made six appearances for Boro during a loan spell earlier this year.


Thursday 21st – Tonge signs new deal
Experienced midfielder Michael Tonge signed a new 18-month deal at Stevenage FC. The 32-year old had made 13 appearances for Boro during a short-term deal and scored his only goal from the penalty spot at Crawley Town. He tells us he's "delighted to stay".

Friday 22nd – Luke Wilkinson signs
Former Luton Town skipper Luke Wilkinson signed prior to the Barnet game. The commanding centre-half played 72 times for the Hatters and Boro swooped quickly after he became available.


Saturday 23rd – George Casey out on loan
Youngster George Casey joined St Neots Town on a one-month loan. It’s the second loan move for the athletic first-year pro after he made 16 appearances for Chesham United earlier this season. He scores in his second game for the Saints to help them to a 5-2 win at Cirencester Town.


Saturday 23rd – Petravicius signs on loan
The afternoon of the Barnet game we announced the loan arrival of Lithuanian international winger Deimantss Petravicius. The 20-year old has come through the Nottingham Forest Academy and already featured for his country five times.


Saturday 23rd – Zanzala arrives on loan
As the team-sheets were exchanged an hour before the Barnet home game we announced the loan signing of striker Offrande Zanzala from Derby County. The highly-rated youngster has come through the ranks at Derby, finding the back of the net on a regular basis and helping the Rams to top the U21 Premier Division 2 table. His debut sees the youngster compete well against two established League 2 centre-halves and he is eventually subbed to a standing ovation.


Wednesday 27th - Hughes departs
Last week saw centre-half Mark Hughes depart Stevenage by mutual consent. The 29-year old made 22 appearances for the club and has since signed for Accrington Stanley.


Thursday 28th - McCombe the next to leave
A day later Jamie McCombe leaves Stevenage by mutual consent. The experienced centre-back made 16 appearances for Boro and has since returned for a second spell at Lincoln City.

Friday 29th - Cox signs permanently
Despite only recently signing on loan for the rest of the season from Plymouth, last week also saw Lee Cox sign a permanent deal at Boro.


Friday 29th - Jamie Jones arrives
Goalkeeper Jamie Jones became the final player to sign for Stevenage during the month of January, arriving from Preston North End. The 26-year old has previously played 179 times for Leyton Orient.
