TONGE: IT IS HOW WE REACT NOW

29 February 2016

Michael Tonge refuses to dwell on Saturday’s defeat to Exeter and believes that he and his teammates can go on and end the season strongly now with just 12 games to go.

Tonge says that the manner of Saturday’s performance should give the team encouragement going forward.

“It has got to. Since we have had the change we have been upbeat, we have definitely started to press from the front and it seems to suit us a lot better. We have just got to try and convert chances when they come along because if you don’t you are always liable for things to happen like today where they just get one on the break and catch you.

“We have got to make it happen and our next opponents won’t give us any help. We have got to take positives from the game but we have also got to be realistic and can’t just keep thinking ‘we’re doing alright but we’re unlucky’.”

Although the last two weekends have been far from ideal, Tonge is positive about the rest of the season.

“It is how we react now. We have had two disappointing results, both where I think we possibly didn’t deserve it but there is no point sulking and moping around.

“We have got 12 games left now and there is no reason why we can’t go and win a good chunk of them games. I certainly believe that and I think that anybody who came to the game can see that even though we lost the game, we had a right, right good go at it and on another day we would have won the game comfortably.”
