TEDDY ON MANSFIELD, MAKING PROGRESS & THE TRANSFER WINDOW

8 January 2016

Teddy Sheringham knows that his side will have to show much more than they did when Mansfield were last our opponents, a 2-0 home defeat back in September.

Now into the second half of the season, the manager believes though that both he and his side have made big improvements from 5 months ago.

“They came down to our place and did a good job on us that night. I would like to think that we have learnt a lot from the first half of the season and that we will be better but I am sure Mansfield will want to be better as well and keep us where we are.

“That is football for you, you have to learn from your mistakes and try to be better in your next game, we will be trying to do that.

“Obviously we are not happy being in 19th position but I feel and we feel we have made good progress from the first quarter to the second quarter and we need to keep progressing.

"In that time you are going to learn, you are going to make mistakes - which I most definitely have in the first half of the season but it is all about learning from your experiences in life and in management.

“Now it is for results to get better from mine and I am sure the clubs point of view.”

With the January transfer window open, the manager has plenty of business to conclude over the next few weeks as loan deals come to an end and the need for new players obvious.

Teddy says that extending the loan of Connor Ogilvie is one of his priorities.

“We are still working with Spurs on that. I think he has been an outstanding player for us, he is a young lad and you never know what you are going to get from young lads but he has got a very consistent nature to his game.

“We are looking at all areas. Everybody seems to be doing a bit of business already at the start of this window, we are looking as well. As I said earlier, we will know a little more early next about what we are up to and what we are doing.

“Most of them (the loans) end of the 10th which is the day after (tomorrow’s game). We are working on stuff and we will see what happens next week but all that my mind is focused on at the moment is tomorrow’s game.“
