Stevenage ran out convincing 6-0 winners at Bishop’s Stortford earlier this afternoon and manager Darren Sarll was pleased with his side’s approach to the game.
He told us, “The motivation levels in the dressing room prior to the game were excellent. I was keen to stress the importance of trying to match the motivation levels we saw on Thursday night. It’s a completely different test coming to Bishop’s Stortford than playing Watford at The Lamex, so I was really pleased with the attitude of the players.
“Especially in the first half an hour I thought we were brilliant in the way we went about our work in quite an aggressive manner and very forward thinking.”
Matt Godden was one of six goalscorers this afternoon, whilst Rowan Liburd did everything but score in a lively second half performance from the former Reading striker.
Speaking about those two players, Darren said, “It’s good to see chances coming. They’re both capable of a 15-goal plus season.
“I was really pleased for Matt’s goal because his movement before he had the ball was excellent and was another level above our own.
“Rowan did everything and I think today people saw just quite how athletic he is and what he holds for us. They’re a nice little pairing, they’re both very eager to score goals and they’re a nice dynamic.”
