Last Season
For the first time since 2004, Doncaster Rovers are back in the fourth tier, with Darren Ferguson unable to stop the club from occupying League One’s final relegation spot. Though spirits were briefly lifted after an impressive 3-1 win over eventual champions Wigan, it was a 3-1 defeat to bottom club Crewe that all but sealed Doncaster’s fate. It was ultimately the sign of a difficult, frustrating and inconsistent season for the South Yorkshire side.

Key Players
After a difficult year, Darren Ferguson has certainly brought well in the transfer market so far, with Mathieu Baudry and Joe Wright expected to bolster the defence considerably alongside last year’s player of the season Craig Alcock. The signings of Tommy Rowe and Gary McSheffrey will also provide some much needed experience in the middle, along with James Coppinger, who has seen just about everything in his twelve years at the club.
