Ever since relegation from League One in 2012, City have certainly held their own in League Two. A 14th placed finish marked off a decent if unremarkable season for the Devonian side. Finishing eleven points from the play-offs suggests they aren’t necessarily far off challenging for the top seven next season. Though the league wasn’t particularly memorable, the third round cup tie and replay against Liverpool will always live long in the memory.
The return of Troy Archibald-Henville could be important in bolstering the defence for the Grecians, with Robbie Simpson and Liam McAlinden expected to do the same up front. Lloyd James will add some steel to the midfield having arrived from Orient, alongside the likes of Ryan Harley and Matt Oakley. Lee Holmes and David Wheeler will provide the width and assists next season. However, a strong team ethic is expected to be key next season.
