STEVENAGE SIGN ROWAN LIBURD FROM READING

Five-figure fee paid to Championship side for powerful striker...

Stevenage have paid a five-figure fee to Championship side Reading to secure the signature of 23 year old striker Rowan Liburd.

The powerful 6' 3" striker joined Reading in July 2015 after scoring 22 goals for Billericay Town in 14/15. Last season he scored 11 goals in 14 games for Reading’s Under-21s.

Rowan previously spent four years on a football scholarship at Thomas University in Georgia before returning to the UK

Stevenage chairman Phil Wallace said, "We are determined to add strikers to the backbone of the side that finished strongly defensively last season. Rowan is an exceptional athlete and a big lad, but the step from non league to the Championship is a huge jump for an inexperienced young player.

"He'll need time to evolve but we’ve invested because we hope he can make a significant contribution to us this year."
