CHARLIE LEE: I WAS ALWAYS GOING TO SIGN IT

12 May 2016

Stevenage midfielder Charlie Lee has spoken about his delight upon signing a new deal with the club.

Next season will be his third at the Lamex and Lee says he already can’t wait to get back under way.

“Yeah I am pleased. I wanted to sign here so I am just glad to get it done.

“I have been playing at Stevenage since I was 16 with Tottenham and I have grown up playing at Stevenage so I felt like I knew the club before I even signed here.

“It is my local club and I wanted to stay. If there was a contract here I was always going to sign it.

“I am looking forward to next year already,” Lee added. “I know the season has just finished but obviously it wasn’t a great season and we are all majorly disappointed. I want the next one to start now to be honest.”

Earlier this week we announced the news that Darren Sarll would be remaining as First Team Manager and Charlie Lee says he has the full backing of the players.

“I have never seen more of a reaction from players to be honest. I have been in football a long time now and the players have bought straight into the way the new manager has wanted to do things.

“There is a lot of support for him between the players and I think fans now to honest. I think the players rallied for him and everyone can say they are excited for next year now.

“Everyone wanted him to be the manager. I know I certainly did.”
