ENGLAND UNDER-18 SQUAD ANNOUNCED

Squad revealed for upcoming internationals, including game at Stevenage FC next Thursday...

England Under-18s boss Neil Dewsnip has selected his squad to play Poland and France on home soil this month.

The Young Lions will take on the Poles here at Stevenage FC on Thursday 10 November (ticket details below), before playing Les Bleus in Peterborough four days later on Monday 14 November.

And head coach Dewsnip has named a 19-man group for the double header, as his side look to continue their international programme this term.

They began with victories over Italy and Israel in a similar mini-tournament in September, before losing one and winning one in Sweden last month.

The main body of the squad from those games remains in place for November’s matches, but there is a first U18s call-up for Manchester United midfielder George Tanner who previously featured for the U17s in the Algarve Tournament in February and also for Bolton Wanderers keeper Jake Turner.

“We have two really competitive games, which will both be another good test for the players,” said Dewsnip.

“The Poles are always incredibly strong, disciplined and competitive and know how to get the best out of their players. I’m sure they may even have a loud and vociferous support in Stevenage too, so that should add to the atmosphere.

“It goes without saying that France are one of the leading European developers of young talent and we always have really competitive games against them at every age group, so this one is going to be no different.

“We played them recently in the U17 Euro Finals in May, when we beat them but it was a very close game and the French had their goalkeeper sent off in the second half at 1-0, so that was unfortunate for them and we’re expecting a tough and competitive game in Peterborough.”

The squad:
Goalkeepers:  Ellery Balcombe (Brentford), Ryan Schofield (Huddersfield Town)*, Jake Turner (Bolton Wanderers)

Defenders: Tolaji Bola (Arsenal), Jaden Brown (Tottenham Hotspur), Jonathan Dinzeyi (Tottenham Hotspur), Morgan Feeney (Everton), Japhet Tanganga (Tottenham Hotspur)

Midfielders: Dennis Adeniran (Fulham), Sadou Diallo (Manchester City), Andre Dozzell (Ipswich Town), Marcus McGuane (Arsenal), George Tanner (Manchester United), Tariq Uwakwe (Chelsea),

Forwards: Elliot Embleton (Sunderland), Niall Ennis (Wolverhampton Wanderers), George Hirst (Sheffield Wednesday), Jonathan Leko (West Bromwich Albion), Reiss Nelson (Arsenal)

*Training goalkeeper only
