TRIALS THIS WEEKEND FOR COLLEGE PROGRAMMES

17 October 2016

Aged 16-19? Considering what to do after school? Come and progress with us!

Trials for next year's intake of two of the club's successful college programmes start on Saturday.

Both the Elite Development Programme at Marriotts School in Stevenage and the Elite College Programme with Cheshunt FC are two-year scholarships for boys aged 16-19 years old, during which they study for a BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport - the equivalent of 3 A-Levels - whilst receiving up to eight hours a week training from UEFA 'B' qualified Stevenage FC Academy coaches and playing in a college league.

The trials are for the 2017 intake which starts next July.

There are a number of similar college schemes out there but what sets the Stevenage FC programmes apart from the rest is this direct access to elite Academy coaches and facilities. Not only can we provide a first class education but the training facilities both at Marriotts, Cheshunt FC and at the Stevenage FC Academy are exceptional.

What's more, the very best participants receive opportunities to progress even further. Macsen Fraser recently signed as an elite Stevenage FC scholar having impressed during his time as an Elite Development Programme participant. Sammy Dowridge  featured in last season's FA Youth Cup squad that reached the Third Round and has also been used in reserve team games this season at the first team's Bragbury End training ground. Meanwhile a number of participants in the Elite College Programme feature for Cheshunt's Under-21 squad, opening up possible opportunities into the Ryman League Division One North's first team.

Graduates of the scheme have often gone on to achieve great careers as professional footballers, coaches, sports scientists, analysts and many more vocations in football and sport.
