FOUNDATION CHARITY GOLF DAY A SUCCESS

15 September 2016

Stevenage FC Foundation’s first ever Charity Golf Day took place yesterday and it was a day to remember for everybody involved.

Hosted at the Stevenage Golf and Conference Centre, first team players, members of staff and fans alike teamed up in groups of four on a blistering hot afternoon.

Steven Schumacher, Jamie Jones, Andrew Fox, Henry Cowans, Charlie Lee and Chris Day all took part and were involved in a players-only competition which saw goalkeeper Jamie Jones coming out on top.

Jones also won one of two nearest-the-pin competitions, Richard Green being the other winner with prizes kindly supplied by the Norton Way Group.

Partnered by Charlie Lee along their round, avid Boro fans Jack Slater, Mark Slater and Colin Windmill won the main team competition.

Speaking to us after the event, Jamie Jones says it was a great day all round.

“Obviously winning is what I came here to do so I was delighted to beat the other lads! I have got some solid bragging rights for months now so I would like to thank the Foundation for the opportunity.

“It was a great day. We got the chance to meet some fans and we all got on really well - everybody enjoyed themselves. Raising money for the Foundation is the icing on the cake.

“To be honest we all can’t wait for the next one, we would like to make it a regular thing.”

Over £1000 was raised across the day and we would like to give a special thanks to A1 Trophies for supplying the trophies and also the following sponsors: Hamilton Rentals, Letchworth Motor Auctions, John Mackenzie, Becker, Stevenage Glass, Kaboodle, Gates Ford, Plowman Craven, Lamex, Stevenage Leisure and Osinsky’s.
