Speaking after the 6-1 win against Hartlepool, Jack King praised his new teammates after a clinical performance at the Lamex Stadium.
Making his league debut, King slotted into the midfield seamlessly and was particularly pleased with the way the team fought back after a nervy start.
“We had our chances and we stuck them away fairly ruthlessly so it has obviously been a pleasing start.
“It is not always easy (conceding early), especially when you are coming off the back of some disappointing results. We held ourselves strong, we went straight back at them and had a good spell straight after they scored and got back in the game fairly quickly.
“It shows good strength of character. You can’t panic when you go a goal down, it is going to happen from time to time. It is how you dust yourselves down and today we did it really well.”
King was one of three new signings in the starting XI today and he says it has been an easy group to integrate with.
“We have come out here today with a lot of new faces and showed what we are about, it can only stand us in good stead.
“It has been superb, they have welcomed me in really quickly. Having spoken to a lot of the lads, I sort of knew what to expect, I knew it was a good team spirit.
“I have got a few friends in the dressing room which always helps and it is a fantastic dressing room, one of the best I have been in even though I have only been here a week. That will play a vital role this season when the going gets tough, that will help bring us through."
