SARLL: IT IS AN IMPORTANT WIN

10 September 2016

Speaking after the 2-1 win against Crawley and a second win in a row for his side, Darren Sarll was pleased to come out with three points and a good performance to boot.

After a shaky start to the match, Boro gained control of the game and goals from Tyler Walker and Jack King helped get the job done.

“I thought it was a different win for us today. Our pressurising and pressing game was a lot better and I think it was a little more in-line with what I have grown to know about this group. I thought they were very, very good at that today.

“So many times we nicked it high and opened Crawley up, creating chances subsequently. I thought it was a good performance after a horrendous start; the first ten minutes were as bad as I have seen us.

“They are getting better. They develop and they work very hard on the training pitch, they have worked unbelievably hard this week. It is just an important win for us and back-to-back wins allow you to climb league tables.”

The points mean Boro move up into the top half of the league and although not happy to concede late in the game, the manager was glad to see a return to form defensively.

“We have set themselves very, very high standards and high targets and if they want to achieve it, they are going to have to step up.

“I was really disappointed that we didn’t keep a clean sheet. We have gone two games now where we have conceded one in each game and we have sort of got back to that resilience. I don’t think we gave away too many chances, there was a good chance before the goal but apart from that we were pretty resolute and solid.”
