A Stevenage XI scattered with young pros, youth team players and trialists came away from Biggleswade Town on Tuesday night with a 4-4 draw.

The star of the show was undoubtedly Andronicos Georgiou whose hat-trick was scored in spectacular fashion.

All on his left foot, the attacker showed what he can offer and why he was awarded with a professional contract in the summer.

“It was excellent for me. To score a hat-trick was amazing. It was the first game I got a lot of minutes so it couldn’t have gone better.

“The first game in the league is on Saturday so I just wanted to make sure I did everything I could in the build up to it. It is what I’ve worked hard all summer for.

“All I can do is train as hard as I can every day and prove to the gaffer that I deserve to be in the First Team squad."

As well as his obvious appetite for attacking play, Georgiou says he has recently developed the ugly side too.

“I never used to have that in my game. With the chats I’ve had with the gaffer, I feel like I have improved on that a lot.

"It is what he wants to see from me so I have to make sure I show it every time I train or go out on the pitch.

"I want to work hard for the team and be part of the team. If they believe in me off the ball, then that is a big step."

As you can see though from the video below, taking on the opposition and looking for a route to goal is his main strength.

“That has been my game my whole life. Getting the ball and running at defenders is what I love doing and hopefully I will make a career out of it. I want to go both sides but as soon as I get it on my left foot I look to shoot and try to score."
