Video & Quotes from the boss...

Darren Sarll is satisfied with his side’s development since the opening day of the season and believes that performances have improved with each game played.

Stevenage remain unbeaten through the first two games of the season with two draws posted.

“I am pleased we took a point at Colchester. I thought we were the better team, 17 shots to their 8. It was a good performance and one where I got on the bus after the game and could see a good side evolving there.

“I saw a progression from Newport to Millwall to Colchester. Hopefully this Saturday will be the day the winning mechanic takes place.

Part of the reason for that optimism is the return to fitness of many key players.

“The only one we're waiting for now is Jack. Jack’s trained this week partially, so he’s getting a lot closer. Ben entered play after Matthew’s hour, which was pleasing to have both of them on the pitch. That is progression for us. We have got a solid structure to our play, now it’s adding the calibre to our squad.”

Saturday’s visit of Grimsby is sure to prove a stern test and Sarll says opposition manager, Russell Slade is somebody he greatly respects.

“They (Grimsby) had a terrific opening day win away at Chesterfield. Russell is a vastly experienced manager, someone that a young man like myself should be looking up to. I have a massive respect for him.

“He has managed some massive football clubs. Grimsby will be a good side in the shape that Russell always produces his sides. They will want to pass the football; they will try and play in between the lines, they will all have good movement in terms of their rotation in the attacking side.

“It is important we seek our winning dynamic and formula and try to implement that in the game.”
