Video & Quotes from the boss...

  • Sarll on a hard fought point…

“When you play against Wycombe you know that Akinfenwa is going to control the ball well and handle the ball well if it drops on his chest.

“In a positive way, you know what they are going to do but it is still very hard to stop.

“Second half they had lots of set plays and the pressure built, but the boys stuck together.

“I thought if anything today we showed a lot of human endeavour, a lot of good qualities in terms of the way we defended our box.

“And young Joe, who has come under some criticism and quite rightly, I thought he dealt with that pressure magnificently with the back four in front of him.”

  • Sarll on needing to strike when on top…

“We had three very good chances first half, second half we probably only had the two.

“I remember Whelpdale’s header at the back post and Godden going through.

“In hindsight we needed to have got that first goal in the first half, I thought we played very well.

“We needed to take our chances. We had numerous chances by half time.”

  • Sarll on an impressive performance from Samuel…

“He is in good form and I just thought that in the second half, with him playing a few more games lately, that whilst he is still running half empty, let’s get Danny Newton on to give us a bit of a jolt.

“He does some good work for us with the ball into his feet and he was a threat.”

  • Sarll on another strong defensive display…

“I think we have been good lately, we have to go back to the Notts County game where we last conceded a goal from open play.

“We have got a solid foundation and we are obviously trying to build on that with our attacking play, especially after last week.

“There were good signs in the first half that there was a continuation of that.

“But it was nice to know we are resilient, the boys fought for each other, fought magnificently and tried very hard for their football club this afternoon.”
