Excerpts from the Chairman's programme notes...
- On the Exeter game last Saturday…
“Our own league results in the last couple of months have been nowhere near what we expect from a Stevenage side and far away from our strong start to the season. I watched last week’s game at Exeter on the live stream as I had to go to Europe for a few days.
“In the same way that managers and players speak privately after a game, from time to time management are called in for a frank exchange of views with me. That has happened, and I believe we are stronger for it.”
- On a patient approach…
“I believe this club has always displayed patience and belief in its management and players. Indeed, we have a reputation in the game of giving everyone a fair crack. You all know the four KPI’s that our management must deliver because I published them here. Two of the four already have a tick by them. Two more to go for a full house then...
“We need to deliver the fast paced, exciting football that we want to see and we are missing a challenge for a play-off spot – but we are only half way through the season.”
- On there being a lot to play for…
“We still have a FA Cup Third Round tie to win in January and a couple of back to back wins in this league changes the perspectives very quickly.
"We will also be strengthening the side when the window opens with two or three new additions in what we consider to be key areas, to help us push on to a successful second half of the season.
“Many of us have been there before, seen it, tasted it and felt the adrenaline rush that a successful second half to a season can bring.
"If we can dig deep together, start that winning feeling today (tomorrow) and take that winning mentality into the three EFL games before we entertain Reading, I would be a very happy chairman.”
