LEE: AT THE MOMENT WE EXPECT TO BEAT ANYONE

12 February 2017

Charlie Lee says confidence is high in the dressing room after a comprehensive 3-0 win over promotion chasing Wycombe.

Boro have picked up nine points out of the last nine available and Lee urges the team to keep it going.

“If you want to do anything in the game, the second half of the season is the most important part. It is a good little spell, we are high on confidence and we have always had a good team spirit here but it is just a great result and a great little run. We are looking forward to the next game.”

Our last three wins have coincided with Lee’s return to the team, playing in a defensive midfield role which has seen him put in some standout performances.

“I enjoy it. I enjoy playing to be honest, I don’t care where I play, I will play anywhere.

“It took a while for me to get back in but I was patient and I think I have done alright since I have been back in. I have enjoyed it.

“We have shored it up a little bit, obviously at times I am a third centre half and I don’t mind that. It helps our full backs get on and we don’t struggle to get men forward. The athleticism in our team is frightening and way above the level we are at.

“There will be times where we go back to 4-4-2 because we have got some good young strikers so we are adapting, it is a good little run now and hopefully we stay on it.”

Next up is the visit of Cheltenham on Tuesday night and Lee doesn’t shy away from his expectations of the team.

“At the moment we expect to beat anyone. You aren’t going to win every game between now and the end of the season - unfortunately - it would be nice if you could but we go into every game thinking we can win it.

“Sometime you have to settle for a point or take a loss on the chin but we go into Tuesday fully expecting to make it a fourth win on the trot.”
