Terence Vancooten says he can’t wait for what lies ahead after joining Darren Sarll’s squad for the upcoming season.

The young defender spoke to StevenageFC.com shortly after signing the deal.

“It feels amazing. I am really happy to be here and I am excited for the future.

“I can’t wait to learn off everyone and improve myself as a player. I have already taken in so much. Both the players and management have been brilliant for me so I am confident I am at the right place.”

With over 400 appearances for the club spanning across 10 seasons, Vancooten believes that in Ronnie Henry he has the perfect tutor for a young right-back such as himself.

“I can learn a lot off him, for sure. He is a great guy and he has taught me a lot already. He speaks well on the pitch so I look forward to working with him.

“Normally when you come in as a trialist it can be pretty hard but the boys took to me well and have been very welcoming.”

Supporters may recognise Vancooten from his appearances across the summer’s pre-season friendlies.

“I just love playing games. There is a bit of pressure because you know that you have to perform to stand a chance but thankfully I did alright and now I am here!”
