An incredible season for striker Matty Godden continues as after scoring his 20th league goal of the season on Saturday, he has now been named in the Football Manager Sky Bet League Two Team of the Season.

Each of the 72 EFL clubs nominated a local media representative, who selected a team of 11 players and a manager, not including the team that they cover.

Since the turn of the year, Stevenage FC have stormed up the League Two table and into promotion contention, 13 goals from Godden in that time playing a big part in our rise.

“I am delighted to be named in the team. It is a really nice bit of recognition for myself and just shows what we are doing as a team this year," Godden said.

“It is lovely to be acknowledged in such a way but I am a level headed guy, so I will keep my feet on the ground and hopefully keep scoring and see where it takes us.

“I owe a lot to the gaffer, Glenn Roeder and everyone involved at Stevenage. They took a punt on me and gave the opportunity to return to the EFL.”

The next chance to see Godden and the team in home action is 1st April when Barnet are our visitors.
