  • Onto the game…

Tuesday night’s win over Accrington came as a big boost as Boro gained on a number of teams within the promotion picture - Notts County, Exeter, Newport and of course, Accrington all losing.

Stevenage are six points off top and currently sit in 7th place. A victory on Saturday would see Boro have a better than 50% win ratio through 15 games.

Forest Green had their result of the season on Tuesday night as they their picked up their second win of the campaign - a 1-0 triumph at Coventry City. The game will go down in Forest Green folklore as their first ever EFL away win.

There won't be cartwheels on display in Gloucestershire just yet though - the EFL newbies are in 23rd place and in desperate need of more points if they are to retain their league status.

  • Team news…

After coming off the bench on Tuesday due to fatigue, Danny Newton will be monitored throughout Friday to see whether he is fit enough for a starting place.

The same goes for Ben Kennedy who played through a knock and Luke Wilkinson who missed out due to illness.

Jack King could make his first start of the season if selected after coming on in Tuesday's win.

  • View from both camps...

Stevenage boss, Darren Sarll…

“Forest Green are another side that spend an extortionate amount of money. There are three of their players that we heavily tried to recruit over the past 18 months and they just blew us out of the water.

“You don’t have that type of foundation and not have good players.

“It will be a really difficult game and they were great the other night against Coventry.”

Forest Green boss, Mark Cooper...

"Stevenage like to get in amongst it. They have got some good young players, two good forwards that keep running and the lad up front Godden who scores a lot of goals.”

“We know their strengths and we’ve got to make sure we look after them.”

  • Previous meetings...

Saturday will be the first game between the two sides since 2010, a 2-0 win home for the Boro thanks to goals from Joel Byrom and Scott Laird.

Stevenage have dominated the fixture across all meetings, W13, D10, L4 with the first match-up coming all the way back in 1998, Carl Alford and Lee Howarth with the goals as Stevenage won 2-1 at the Lawn Ground.
