After an unbeaten start to the season, Boro boss Darren Sarll has been nominated for the Sky Bet League Two August Manager of the Month...

The Stevenage gaffer makes the four-man shortlist, taking eight points from a possible twelve without defeat.

The season got off to an exciting, if frustrating start. After goals from Tom Pett, Dale Gorman and Danny Newton had us on course for an opening day win against Newport, Shawn McCoulsky's 94th minute equaliser left everyone feeling a little flat.

Things improved though as a strong away performance at Colchester was rewarded with a 1-1 draw. Danny Newton netting his second of the season in the second half to make it two points from two.

Boro’s first win of the season came with a swash-buckling 3-1 win at home to Grimsby Town. Danny Newton’s audacious over the head strike kicked things off, before new signing Jonathan Smith doubled Boro's lead before halftime. Ben Kennedy was introduced on the hour and took only a matter of minutes to seal the win with a lovely curled effort from outside the box.

The final game of August saw us come up against local rivals Barnet and leave with victory the hard way. Tom Pett’s right-footed volley gave Boro an early lead but Dale Gorman's red card meant Stevenage had to play the majority of the game with 10 men.

A resilient performance with help from a brilliant away following secure the job and end August unbeaten.

Darren is nominated alongside Crewe's David Artell, Newport’s Mike Flynn and Exeter's Paul Tisdale.

The winner will be announced later this week.
