Video & Quotes from the boss...
Sarll on the performance….
“I am just so proud of the player’s efforts tonight, their togetherness and the way they rolled their sleeves up. We have had some difficult days here previous to this. We have always found them very tough games and I have always found Keith tactically very astute, always ready to change things and throw in some added problems to us.
“Whatever Carlisle threw at us I thought we dealt with handsomely.
Sarll on the goals coming from a touch of fortune…
“I don’t really care how they come. I have been on the wrong end of too many unlucky moments so when the luck is earned by our players, and let’s be brutally honest, it was very much earned. They deserved to take it.
“People don’t know but who is to say it wasn’t our plan to affect a young goalkeeper in the same way people try to affect our young goalkeeper.”
Sarll on a young team and the positive impact made by the subs…
“You look at the make-up of the Carlisle team, lots in their late 20’s, early 30’s. We had four U21s in the side tonight and two lads out of non-league who are doing absolutely brilliant.
“I thought Terence Vancooten was magnificent from start to finish, such athleticism and temperament for a young man. And Dale Gorman is growing by the way every game, every game.
“I have got to say, all the players that came off the bench did well. Wootoon was excellent again; he stretched them in a completely different way. Wilkinson coming on for Franks; that is a tough game to come into with the defensive nature of the game, and TC has deserved an outing for a while."
Sarll on rewarding the travelling supporters…
“I thought they got a real backs to the wall, roll your sleeves up, we are going to dig in and if they are going to beat us, they are going to have to beat all eleven of us type performance.
“On the way up Captain Ronnie Henry came to me and said, 'We have had a whip round for the supporters who are making this journey and we want you to give it to them'. So we had a little collection but I want that connection between the footballers and the supporters.
“The first game I ever celebrated victory was in front of 26 away at Hartlepool and I celebrated tonight as much and as enthusiastically as I did that night.”
