  • Onto the game...

Both Stevenage and Forest Green Rovers head into tonight’s game unbeaten in Sky Bet League Two and looking to consolidate good starts to their respective seasons.

Dino Maamria’s side sit joint-top of the table with 7 points whilst Mark Cooper’s men are two points behind after conceding a last minute goal at the weekend away at Bury.

Christian Doidge’s 29th minute goal looked to set Rovers on their way to all three points until Aimson’s strike in the dying embers of the game.

Doidge has got off to a hot start this season with 3 league goals from 3 games, following on from his 20 goals scored in 2018/19.

With two trips to the West Country in one week, Boro are up against it in terms of travel, rest and recuperation. However, a positive week of results would set the team up wonderfully ahead of the following Saturday’s home derby against Cambridge.

  • View from the camp...

Stevenage boss, Dino Maamria:

“We aren’t going to win anything in August. Whilst we are picking up points whilst we are leanring, we will be fine.

“I am very impressed with them. I watched them their last three games and I think Mark Cooper has learned from the league. He has been there a year and a half now and they look very impressive.

“They get the balance between dominating possession and going long, they do both sides of the game. They are an athletic team and I think they have a very good team. I expect them to be up there this season.

“They are unbeaten like us and it is going to be tough for us. We have to be better than what we were on Saturday to get the result we need.”

  • Previous meetings…

Boro comfortably hold the upper hand on Rovers across 29 meetings between the two sides, the vast majority of which came outside of the EFL. Stevenage have come out on top on 13 occasions, to Forest Green’s 6, with 10 draws.

However, the Green Devils did the double last season with wins both home and away in their first season as an EFL team.
