Thanks for helping make it an occasion to remember...
Owner Phil Wallace was over-the-moon with the reaction from the Stevenage supporters for the opening game of the season against Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.
Maamria's squad came away with a 2-2 draw in a wildly entertaining game at the Lamex Stadium and Wallace stated his delighted at the response from the fans.
"With a new manager, a new team and a new CEO, the Lamex Stadium was buzzing yesterday with an amazing atmosphere!
"Gate receipts from the home turnstiles were a six year record and the highest from an opening home game since our first in the EFL in 2011.
"Hopefully lowering the entrance price to £15 on the East Terrace seems to have made a difference – we will continue to track that closely.
"The game was a great one for the neutral, but I was so impressed with the buzz off the pitch too.
"Interactive games for kids in the car park, our own busker playing live music - it was a really great start to the season with a carnival atmosphere leading up to the game.
"I think everyone that saw the match would have been pleased with the new lads on show and the desire to deliver a win for the fans.
"Sure, the players need to learn about each other and the management team will learn about what the best mix is, but it was an enjoyable day out and we saw some good things from our lads.
"Now we have to shift into a winning mode so that winning becomes habitual, but the momentum created by Dino and the fans yesterday was a great start to the season.
"More of the same on Saturday, August 18th please!"
