Video & Quotes from the boss ahead of Saturday's season opener...

  • Maamria on good preparation going into the game...

"I think we got the players fitter and I think we got the players more organised. We got four wins and two very, very narrow losses last minute to two Premier League teams. I thought we were very good.

"I have experienced before where we have had a good pre-season but got off to a bad start in the league. I think you have got to focus on the process and keep building habits with the ball and without the ball.

"I think we have been getting better every game and that is a good measure.

"Of course it is a new team and not just that but new backroom staff too. Hopefully it won't take as long as it should (to gel) but we have have had a good six weeks together and things are looking well."

  • Maamria on Saturday's opponents...

"I think Tranmere can be a dangerous team. We know very well the teams that get promoted from non-league are always strong and they know what winning looks like.

"They will be hard working, they will do the basics very well and we have got to be up for it. We have got to overpower them, we have got to match everything they have got and play on top of that. I think we are ready for the game and I am looking for to it."

  • Maamria on his expectations and message to the fans...

"I aim to win every game. I don’t look too far ahead, you look short first, always with long-term vision. I know where I want to be at the end of the season and the short term focus right now is on Tranmere, every game in League Two is winnable, and our target is to win every game possible in League Two."

"We have made a lot of changes, the club brought in 14 new players, so hopefully we will hit the ground running but it is a long season and I know we won’t get carried away from a strong start, neither will we get carried away with a poor start.

"All we can do is focus on the process and I am sure it is going to be an exciting season for the football club.

"I ask our fans to back us throughout the season in their numbers. I am asking for 4,000 this week, hopefully that will  and if that does it will be fantastic and hopefully we will get the Lamex rocking again."
