Video & Quotes from the boss...

  • Sarll on a missed opportunity...

“I think too many times we have had ‘ifs’, ‘buts’ and ‘maybes’. They have taken chances and we have not taken any of ours.

“At this level it is hard enough just to create a chance, let alone to convert the chances you make.

“So to create what we have created and to not have scored a goal tonight is very hard for me to take.

"It is very frustrating. For the first 31 minutes until the goal, we were the side in the ascendency and over the two games, if you take the 90 minutes at home and the 30 minutes away, I think we have given a decent show of ourselves."

  • Sarll on the disallowed goal & kit clash..

“It is not offside. Matt Godden’s feet and body is perfectly symmetrical with Chris Gunter’s. Perfectly symmetrical.

“But I think I might have struggled, we are both wearing white shirts.

“The officials confirmed with us that we would wear all blue. I get to the ground and I see white hanging up. I am thinking, 'it is a predominently white Reading kit', but it was what the referree wanted..

“It is absolutely farcical that Reading have to come out second half in their away strip.

“So, that was that, the goal was onside. Then Matt quite clearly gets shoved in the box.

“It was ridiculous. If you don’t take chances at this level - even at League Two level - then ultimately you get what you deserve.”

  • Sarll on the players doing him proud despite the defeat...

“The players never stopped, they never gave up, they never threw the towel in. At 3-0 down and 80 minutes gone, they could have sat off and thought ‘I will get myself ready for Saturday.’

“But they never stopped and they kept going and I am proud of them for that. I am proud of them that we got back into the Third Round and we have at least taken this tie to some sort of contest over two games.

“They (the players) will not be happy for sure, they will not be pleased that they have gone out of the competition.

“It is a real difficult one to take and the players are not stupid, they are clever boys and they have been in football a long time and they will know this was a real opportunity missed."
