Stevenage FC has issued a public invitation to individuals and companies to join the club at Associate Director level...
The League Two club has been owned by Phil Wallace for 18 years and he remains committed to Stevenage FC, but says it is time for others to join them to fulfil the club’s agenda.
That is; a push for promotion through the leagues and enhanced player development at its exceptional Academy. A small active main board of Phil Wallace, Stuart Dinsey and Marcus Taverner QC are inviting individuals and businesses to come forward and participate in the club’s evolution.
Recently, English football’s biggest ever crowd-funding initiative, supported by Gianluca Vialli, raised £600,000 towards stadium development and the club is gaining ever more admirers for its burgeoning Youth Academy.
Wallace said, "With the new North Stand going up this year, we will have a modern 8,000 capacity stadium, a fantastic youth scheme and Championship standard training facilities. We are a stable, financially sound club less than 30 minutes from London, with income streams coming from a variety of off-the-pitch investments we have made into the club over the years.
“But to consistently win league and cup games at this level and create momentum within our supporter base, we need to break through the glass ceiling of a low to average playing budget.
“We need to either find significant new money from a third party, have a lucrative cup run or gain windfalls from player sales. We need to be able to keep hold of our best players, develop and improve them, resist early bids from the next level and put real long term value into them, both in terms of transfer fees and player wages.
“We need more people, local or otherwise, to contribute and get involved financially”, added Wallace.
"They can start as an Associate Director and just enjoy the match day experiences with family and/or clients, or apply to join the full board in time.
“We know from our years in League One that we can develop player value and give our fans greater enjoyment from a higher league position.”
